About the Movie
I Hugged The Berlin Patient is an acclaimed documentary-adventure about spirited cancer survivor Edgar Tang‘s spontaneous and light-hearted quest across continents to find Timothy Ray Brown, aka ‘The Berlin Patient' – the first man in the world cured of HIV.
Inspiring & Heartfelt
Being a cancer survivor himself, director/writer Edgar Tang brings on a very unique and heartfelt perspective in his journey in hunting down the world's first person to be cured of HIV. Not knowing much about this man (Timothy Ray Brown), I was kept on a constant edge watching Edgar fulfil his quest.
I admire Edgar's bold and courageous approach in making this documentary. it's meticulous use of music is something that I must praise because many a times, music in documentaries almost seem to be an afterthought.
"I Hugged The Berlin Patient" is a really moving & great piece of work and It was well worth my money. Definitely a gem.
Mostly awkward but...
BRAVE. It is not typical of a Singaporean man to put himself out there, go on an insane adventure and tells his story.
With his passion, and crazy drive, Edgar told a very inspiring story in times of bad news, and more bad news. Besides telling the story of the first man to be cured of HIV, you see Edgar, a producer at work, and its real in every aspect, as I tell from my own personal experiences as a broadcast producer.
