Billy Cobham has generally been considered to be more of a jazz fusion drummer, though he proves without a doubt that he is equally at home on-stage with an older school master drummer like Louie Bellson. Cobham is a special guest with Bellson and his band for this circa 1980s concert, much of which focuses on the two drummers, both individually and trading explosive licks with the band often sitting out. One humorous moment occurs when both drummers have a running gag to see who can play the softest during one song. This concert DVD will be of most interest to hardcore fans of jazz drumming, though it is fun to watch each of them have the rare opportunity to share the stage with another jazz percussion great. There's also a bonus clip of Bellson leading his big band (without Cobham).
