Friction's Zone Tripper features more of the Japanese group's distinctive fusion of hard rock, punk, and noise, and adds remixes by Tokyo DJs into the sonic fray. The title track, "Break Neck," and "The Heavy Cut" are noisy, visceral workouts, while the remixes of these songs contribute an anarchic, cut'n'paste aesthetic to the proceedings. Songs like "Red Light Dumb," "Choke," and "High Life" reveal why Friction are one of Japan's most enduring underground bands, and part of Tzadik's "New Japan" roster.
