Album Review

The album Fried Green Tomatoes is standard Ricky Van Shelton fare, a delectable serving of the kind of songs that earned him so many country music awards during the '80s and '90s. Maybe he has taken that old saying to heart about if something isn't broken, don't fix it. Of course that doesn't mean this artist is afraid to add a little dash of new spice on songs like "From the Fryin' Pan." Not every tune of this 2000 Audium Entertainment album is the best Shelton has to offer, but his striking voice can help cover a few weak lyrics. Most of the songs, though, need no such help, and Ricky Van Shelton fans will really enjoy popping this one into the stereo often. A couple of the best tunes are this album are "Call Me Crazy" and the touching "Your One and Only."
