Released in 1977 as a three-record set, Decade summed up Neil Young's career to that point with the same idiosyncratic approach he applied to his music—that plenty of first-rate material was left off is a testament to the man's greatness. Alongside surefire hits "Heart of Gold" and “Ohio,” you’ll find FM radio staples like "Sugar Mountain," "Down By the River," "Southern Man” and "The Needle and the Damage Done." There isn't a bum track here, and there are more than a few revelations, including the wired intensity of "Burned" and "Cortez the Killer" and the twisted balladry of "After the Gold Rush" and "Star of Bethlehem.”
