A collaboration between Helium's Mary Timony and Sleater-Kinney's Carrie Brownstein, the Spells make their debut with the 1999 EP Age of Backwards. Along with a cover of the Who's "Can't Explain," the duo presents three original songs: "The Door," "Number One Fan" and the title track, all of which display the energy and intricacy of their previous work.
