Album Review

When we think of the music of Cameroon musicians, what generally comes to mind are the makossa, zouk, and bikutsi sounds. Dikongue, a songwriter, vocalist, and guitarist, works a gentler — though just as rhythmic — groove. Elements of samba, salsa, Cape Verdean,,and reggae are present in his music, underwritten by a wonderful feel for traditional Cameroonian music. This album is a giant step for Dikongue. Songs like "Africa," "Nama Pula Ndena," "Wa," and "Ndolo" are gem-like in their warmth and elegance.
