About And the Moneynotes

And the Moneynotes originally began as Dr. Horsemachine and the Moneynotes in Scranton, PA, in 2006. After the self-described "vaudevillian country bluegrass pop" group completed its first EP, This Year We Hunt, in 2007, bassist Austin Smith returned to his native Texas. The rest of the group -- Mike Williams (guitar, vocals), Roy Williams (piano, vocals), Coleman Smith (fiddle), Jeff "Setty" Hopkins (drums), and Brian Craig (washboard, mandolin) -- brought Mike Quinn (guitar, vocals) and Pat Finnerty (bass, vocals) aboard to take Smith's place; the resulting change in musical direction prompted the group to shorten its name to And the Moneynotes. The band's full-length debut, New Cornucopia, was mixed by Nick Krill and released in 2008. ~ Katherine Fulton
