About Cobra Verde

Born from the ashes of '80s indie band Death of Samantha, Cleveland's Cobra Verde gild their rust belt rock with several coats of glitter. Led by singer John Petkovic, the band has been putting an arty twist on meat-and-potatoes bar rock since the release of their 1993 debut, VIVA LA MUERTE. While never achieving a tremendous amount of commercial success, the members of Cobra Verde have had their various brushes with fame, including briefly working as the backing band for Robert Pollard in Guided By Voices and appearing on the short-lived teen drama the O.C. as a Foreigner cover band. Regardless of mainstream acceptance (one way or the other), Cobra Verde continued to release compelling albums into the 2000s, providing a rough-and-tumble version of Roxy Music-style art rock for the new millennium.
