About DJ Sammy

DJ Sammy’s name is virtually synonymous with a single song: “Heaven”, the Bryan Adams staple that the Spanish DJ/producer famously remixed in 2001, yielding a trance-pop smash that entered the Top 10 in six countries (including the U.S.) and went to No. 1 in the U.K. DJ Sammy—born Samuel Bouriah in 1969, on the island of Mallorca—already had almost two decades under his belt as a DJ by the time of his breakout hit, as well as multiple club hits in Spain and Germany. With “Heaven”, though, Sammy hit upon his forte: flipping beloved pop classics into floor-filling, feel-good trance hits. He followed “Heaven” with silky covers of Don Henley’s “The Boys of Summer” and The Mamas & The Papas’ “California Dreamin’” and, over the next few years, he would also tackle Annie Lennox’s “Why” and R.E.M.’s “Everybody Hurts”. There’s no shortage of original songs in his catalogue, though, and as dance music has evolved over the years, Sammy has embraced styles like reggaetón (2020’s “Cegado”) and hardstyle (2021’s “Dark Fusion”) while staying true to his core vision of melodic, uplifting trance
