About Don Edwards

Although born in New Jersey, Don Edwards became one of the leading exponents of cowboy and western music. He taught himself guitar at the age of 10 and grew up listening to his father’s 78s of such singers as Carl T. Sprague and Gene Autry. Between 1961 and 1964, after painful rodeo experiences, Edwards worked as a singer, actor, gunfighter and stuntman at the Fort Worth amusement park, Six Flags Over Texas. His residency at the prestigious White Elephant Saloon established his reputation throughout Texas and after releasing five albums on his own Sevenshoux label, Edwards signed to the new Warner Western label, releasing the excellent SONGS OF THE TRAIL in 1992. In the late-'90s he moved to Shanachie Records, releasing several acclaimed albums in the '00s.
