About Lost Sounds

Formed out of the ashes of the Reatards and Clears, the Memphis punk trio the Lost Sounds emerged in 1999 around Jay Reatard (guitar/synth/vocals), Alicja Trout (guitar/synth/vocals), and Rich Cook (drummer). Armed with the desire to mash punk, New Wave, and hardcore into one cacophonous blend, they began to tour and caught the ears of Bigneck Records, who released a couple of singles and their full-length debut, MEMPHIS IS DEAD, in 2000. Over the next five years, two more LPs and an EP followed, with 2004’s FUTURE TOUCH and LOST SOUNDS distributed by iconic punk label In The Red. The group would then disband, with Jay Reatard going on to notable indie acclaim in the ensuing years.
