About Ricardo Montaner

One of the best-selling Latin music artists of all time, Argentine-Venezuelan singer-songwriter Ricardo Montaner has been recording traditional romantic and modern pop hits since the late ’70s. ∙ “La Cima del Cielo,” from 1989, was his first of four singles to top Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart. ∙ Montaner and American singer Michelle recorded “Un Mundo Ideal,” the Spanish-language version of “A Whole New World,” for Disney’s 1993 Latin American release of Aladdin. ∙ For his 2001 album, Sueño Repetido, Montaner worked with conductor/arranger Bebu Silvetti, who also produced recordings for Plácido Domingo and Engelbert Humperdinck. ∙ In addition to Latin Grammy Award nominations for Best Male Pop Vocal Album and Song of the Year in 2006, he was honored with a Latin Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2016. ∙ The 2012 hit single “La Gloria de Dios” was a duet with his then-teenaged daughter, the actress and singer Evaluna Montaner. ∙ He cowrote his 2019’s Montaner with such next-generation musicians as singer-songwriter Camilo, producer Tainy, and his sons Mauricio and Ricardo (of Latin pop duo Mau y Ricky).
