About Tall Tales and The Silver Lining

Southern California's Trevor Beld-Jimenez began his '60s folk-rock- and '70s pop/rock-influenced Tall Tales & the Silver Lining project in 2007. With a roster of collaborators fleshing out amiable, acoustic-guitar-centered tunes, his first full-length album, The Understanding, was released in 2008 on Beehouse Records. The following year, he recorded a second LP, Fall In, again using a full band that included guitar, lap steel, synthesizer, bass, drums, and percussion. Fall In was released in 2010, also on Beehouse, and Nice to Meet You Again followed in 2011. Beld-Jimenez and a rotating lineup of musicians (including his wife, Tania), toured throughout this period in California, opening for bands such as Langhorne Slim, Blitzen Trapper, Dawes, and Kurt Vile. He then decided to conduct a distribution experiment, releasing four seasonal EPs beginning in summer of 2011, each with a single, and each recorded at a different studio in the Los Angeles area. 2012 saw the prolific songwriter release Unknown Futures: Pt. 1, which consisted of self-recorded demos written over the prior year and a half, as well as his fifth full-length record, Short Songs, and finally in December, a 12-track eponymous album that collected the seasonal releases from 2011 and 2012. The latter was his first release on Rocketship Records. An EP titled Besides was issued in early 2014, and later that year the band made its New York City debut at the CMJ Showcase. A seventh full-length album, the bright Tightropes, came in early 2015 on the Other Music Recording Co. label. ~ Marcy Donelson
