About Walk Off the Earth

Formed in 2006, Canadian alternative-pop band Walk Off the Earth first found success with covers of hit songs before they began releasing their own original music and collaborating with other artists. ∙ The band’s 2012 video of Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used to Know”—featuring all five members playing the same acoustic guitar—was a viral hit, with over 19 million views in its first week online. ∙ Actor-musician Russell Crowe tweeted his approval for the band in 2012, offering his shared songbook with Great Big Sea’s Alan Doyle for Walk Off the Earth to cover in their unique style. ∙ The original song “Red Hands,” the group’s second single, reached No. 9 on the Billboard Canadian 100 and topped the U.S. Adult Alternative Airplay chart in 2013. ∙ DJ/producer Steve Aoki featured the band on the track “Home We’ll Go (Take My Hand),” off his third album, 2015’s Neon Future II. ∙ Walk Off the Earth won Canada’s Juno Award for Group of the Year in 2016. ∙ In 2019, they sang “O Canada” in Oakland before Game 4 of the 2019 NBA Finals between the Golden State Warriors and the eventual champion Toronto Raptors.
