Released just months before her solo career would pass the decade mark, Detroit’s Dorinda Clark-Cole had certainly earned this album title, I Survived. A subtitle like “And with My Powerful Voice Still Intact” would make it just as true, something obvious from the huge, live opener “Holy One” and proven right through the tight, studio closer “Don’t Give Up.” The great “Thank You” features family member Twinkie Clark as both guest and co-writer, while gospel music vets Warryn Campbell and Asaph Ward handle the production.
