Album Review

With typical perversity, Ryan Adams relegates the lovely "Halloween" — one of his better efforts in some time — to this little-known promotional release; in fact, the entire three-song set is top-notch, trafficking in the sort of ragged-but-right roots rock that is Adams' strong suit. Speculating on the origins of this session is pointless — given his prolificacy, Adams probably knocked these performances out while waiting for a pizza delivery — but the material boasts the quiet beauty that is the hallmark of all his finest records, in particular evoking Heartbreaker and Cold Roses. Well worth tracking down.
