This fabulous compilation captures 14 significant Teddy Pendergrass tracks with nary a miss in sight. To the point and dead-on, Very Best of Teddy Pendergrass will please the baritones' legion of fans, and is a solid intro to TP for newbies. It would be perfect had the compiler included "Be Sure," the fantastic album cut from his first solo album. But you can't have everything, and this is more than enough to satisfy most musical palates.

A self-taught drummer, Pendergrass had a teen pop vocal group when he was 15. By his late teens, Pendergrass was a drummer for local vocal group the Cadillacs.
