Album Review

Conscience, on which the Beloved consists of vocalist/producer Jon Marsh and co-songwriter/producer Helena Marsh (replacing guitarist Steve Waddington), suggests that the success of Happiness was a fluke. In the synth-pop sweepstakes, the Marshes are no competition to the Pet Shop Boys or Erasure, turning out bland, light dance tracks topped by Jon's uninvolved singing of light, upbeat lyrics.
