This awarded release (Prêmio Sharp for Best Arranger, Heraldo do Monte) brings the Northeastern accordion player/composer/singer Dominguinhos on the top of his heels. A virtuoso player, he interspersed in this lively album two instrumental cuts with the sung ones, being fully danceable, in a purely Brazilian and northeastern way: Xotes, forrós, quadrilhas, and other folkloric rhythms are the core out of which the personal creation emerges. As all releases by Dominguinhos, all acoustic, this one never compromises in favor of commercial exigencies, remaining faithful to the spirit of Dominguinhos godfather, the King of Baião Luís Gonzaga, even if the arrangements instill a lot of modernity through altered chords, which are so cleverly devised that one has to focus in them to perceive their subversive character.
