Just in case Thee Oh Sees’ mastery of fuzz-addled psych rock had ever been in doubt, this 2010 album arrives front-loaded with a churning, 13-minute manifesto of a title track. From there, the San Francisco marauders keep the songs much shorter but every bit as dazed and askew, channelling 13th Floor Elevators on both the raucous release of “I Was Denied” and the sing-song delirium of “Everything Went Black”. Though distortion reigns supreme, the throttling hooks and ecstatic melodies come through loud and clear.
