About G-Unit

The rap group G-Unit—originally a trio of 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo—dominated hip-hop in the early 2000s with a string of street mixtapes. • Following 50’s breakthrough success with 2003’s Get Rich or Die Tryin’, G-Unit appeared alongside Snoop Dogg on the remix to 50’s single “P.I.M.P.” • Young Buck joined the group in time to appear on their debut album, 2003’s Beg for Mercy, featuring the singles “Poppin’ Them Thangs” and “Wanna Get To Know You”. • Compton rapper The Game joined up after Beg for Mercy was finished. Both he and Young Buck would ultimately leave the group after public feuds with leader 50 Cent. • When not fighting each other, G-Unit also had high-profile beefs with New York rappers Ja Rule, Fat Joe and Cam’ron. • G-Unit’s second album, 2008’s T·O·S (Terminate on Sight), was followed by a long period of inactivity. With Young Buck and newcomer Kidd Kidd in the lineup, the group returned with a pair of new EPs in 2014 and 2015. • As of 2018, 50 Cent and Tony Yayo were the only remaining members.
