About Nile
Combining the extreme speed and nihilism of death metal with the ancient stylings of Middle Eastern music, Nile were formed in Greenville, South Carolina in 1993 by Karl Sanders (guitar/vocals), Chief Spires (bass/vocals), and Pete Hammoura (drums). Nile debuted with the Festivals of Atonement EP in 1995, followed by Ramses Bringer of War in 1997. Relapse Records issued Amongst the Catacombs of Nephren-Ka in 1998, followed by Black Seeds of Vengeance (2000) and In Their Darkened Shrines (2002). Nile returned in 2005 with Annihilation of the Wicked, their first album with new drummer George Kollias and last Relapse release. After signing with Nuclear Blast, the band issued Ithyphallic (2007), Those Whom the Gods Detest (2009), At the Gates of Sethu (2012), and What Should Not Be Unearthed, their eighth studio long player, in 2015. ~ Mike DaRonco
