About ROTTENGRAFFTY

ROTTENGRAFFTY is a long-running Japanese band that has inspired a cult following with their fusion of rock, hip-hop, punk, metal, electronica, and reggae. ∙ Formed in 1999, they first attracted attention in Japan with their live shows and acclaimed debut EP, 2001’s Radical Peace x Radical Genocide. ∙ “Warudakumi~Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence,” their 2003 single mixing original music with a film theme by legendary Japanese composer Ryuichi Sakamoto, earned praise from Sakamoto himself. ∙ More than 15 years after their formation, ROTTENGRAFFTY debuted in the Top 10 of the Oricon Albums chart with the 2015 EP Life Is Beautiful, a No. 6 hit. ∙ In 2017, their song “70cm Shihounomadobe” was used as the closing theme of the Japanese anime TV series Dragon Ball Super. ∙ PLAY, the group’s 2018 LP, was their highest-charting full-length release, peaking at No. 9 on the Oricon Albums chart.
