9 MINUTE PREVIEW is BRILLIANT

I'm probably one of the biggest fans of the original series - and couldn't be more excited with the fact that AMC got this property.
Casting looks spectacular with Ian McKellan (Magneto) as No. 2 and Jim Caviezel (Jesus Christ) as No. 6 is absolutely perfect. Appears to pay homage to the original series while striking out on it's own direction.
While I love MADMEN from AMC, this series starting as soon as it's Season ends couldn't be more perfect. Tell everyone to try this sure to be classic series out as it starts on Nov. 15th

Upon first glance...

The original is so brilliant, and still holds up. If you haven't seen it, do.

This looks good, from the preview, but it is it's own thing. It is a remake only in that the basic ideas are the same, but it's very different from the original, which could be a good thing. It's not trying to be something it isn't.

As times have become more perilous since the original "The Prisoner" so is this updated version creepier, more violent, perhaps more disturbing.

Very Disappointing

Everything I like about the old series is gone. This is "The Prisoner" in name only. There is someone called Number 6 and someone called Number 2. There is Rover. That's where the similarities end. Number 6 has none of the drive and determination to protect his identity as Patrick McGoohan. Gone is the mixture of humor and drama. This is a very flat, unmoving, uninteresting "reimagining" and I use the "imagining" part lightly. We live in a highly technological society that looks more and more like the McGoohan vision every day. Yet we see the villagers living in something that looks more like a shanty town than anything else. In real life we see our government taking over more of our private lives, an administration that literally requested people to inform on one another, and cameras on almost every street corner. Yet this "Prisoner" is concerned with none of that. Honestly, I can't tell you what the hell is going on and I've watched Arrival and Harmony.

You're better off buying the original and reliving the brilliance.
