The second feature by Canadian writer-director Nathan Morlando follows a teenage couple breaking free of their grim, abusive homes for the uncertain freedom of life on the road. Composed by Ryan Lott (best known as head of the genre-defying Son Lux), the movie’s soundtrack subverts the conventions of an orchestral score with a densely textured blend of the electronic and acoustic, matching discordant swells of brass with ominous, pulsing synthesisers and ethereal vocals with sparkling ambience. The result is by turns threatening and wondrous.
