Levantis is an alias of Darren Cunningham, aka Actress and GNESIS. It's another outlet for the electronic music producer's warped, singular form of techno. Cunningham debuted Levantis in 2013, the year between the Actress albums R.I.P. and Ghettoville, with an EP for the Trilogy Tapes. Compared to the Actress output that immediately preceded and followed it, Believe was relatively straightforward -- each one of its tracks had a steady bass drum pattern -- though it was just as heady as anything else Cunningham had done. In 2015, the year after which Cunningham released what appeared to be the final Actress album, he returned to Levantis for Romantic Psychology, Vol. 1, a slightly longer collection of (mostly) shorter, more ambient tracks. It found a home on Ninja Tune subsidiary Technicolour. ~ Andy Kellman
