JFK Continues to Mature Musically

Monchrome marks the 3rd "official" release for JFK. First off, I have to say to the guys...It's really great to see you decided to keep the band together and put out some new material....we have all been patiently waiting. Moving on to the album... Monochrome is a bit more "pop" sounding than previous albums, but delivers a perfect blend of instruments to supplement Joe's Voice. Personally, I was a little upset to not get a true rock song on the album as I believe Joe has an unbelievable rock voice...Maybe on the next JFK Album??? Onto the music. SIX HOUR DRIVE & BLUE have been around forever...but I have to say I was Blown away with how these songs turned out on recording. The ending of SIX HOUR DRIVE gives me goosebumps every time! I have to commend the band on taking 2 mediocre songs and turning them into 2 songs that are a MUST download. Other songs to check out include FIGHTING FIRE, SAY IT NOW & 100 PIANOS. I've been telling a lot of friends about this new material & I HIGHLY recommend the album to anyone, especially if you’re going on a long drive. You will fall in love with it. Congratulations on the new album and keep up the hard work guys. With all the talent this band posses, I hope they continue to play music for a long long time……Peace! ~Bill from Wilmington, NC

Monochrome Review

I think this album is great. The band has grown so much since their swim album. Swim is a great album but I want to hear what else bands can do as they progress. If every album sounded just like Swim why would I come back to listen. That's why I love July For Kings so much they are always branching out and expanding their musical horizon but keeping true to their own style and sound. Say it Now is definitely a great song and one of the best on the album but Houses Made of Stained Glass really has a melody that keeps bringing me back. This album is definitely still July For Kings and their sound is unmistakable. I recommend this album to everyone into rock music

Another Great Album

This album is awesome! Great music, great vocals, and more importantly they are great guys. Buy this album!

Biography

Formed: 1998 in Cincinnati, OH

Genre: Alternative

Years Active: '00s

Comparable to bands like Default, Third Eye Blind, and Familiar 48, July for Kings are a melodic post-grunge and alternative pop/rock outfit whose primary influences include Pearl Jam, Live, and Creed (with hints of U2 at times). Joe Hedges, July for Kings' lead singer, is obviously well aware of Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder, and Live's Ed Kowalczyk has clearly had a major impact on his vocals. July for Kings generally rock harder than U2, although some of the band's lyrics hint at U2's spirituality....
