Album Review

This features more of Ray Conniff's biggest hits, including Cole Porter's "Begin the Beguine" as well as "The First Time I Ever Saw Your Face," "Besame Mucho," and "Seasons in the Sun." 16 Most Requested Songs: Encore offers another good overview of Ray Conniff's career. It includes a more standard selection of songs without some of Conniff's pop excursions (such as the Coke commercial "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing" or the Barry Manilow hit "I Write the Songs"). Traditionalists may find this a strength; kitsch enthusiasts may consider it a detriment. Either way, it is a solid collection even more readily available than the first version. Another good introduction to Conniff.

Great Instrumental Album

I bought the whole album and after listening to all the songs I am now addicted to listening to everything he made. Reminds me a lot of Henry Mancini and his style but this has a beautiful background singers and makes great background music. My favorite songs are Memories Are Made Of This

16 Most Requested Songs -Encore!

Always a great vocal ensemble. However, this album is not one of my favorite Conniff albums because not every song includes the singing of the words! Ray Conniff SINGERS! Yes? Then I expect words sung to every song and not hummings, etc.....although done tastefully. Had I known this I would never have purchased this particular album. Hence, for me, three stars. Great Bass Trombone playing!!!

The man who popularized wordless vocal choruses and light orchestral accompaniment on a mix of popular standards and contemporary hits of the 1960s, Ray Conniff was a trombone player for Bunny Berigan's Orchestra and Bob Crosby's Bobcats before being hired as an arranger by Mitch Miller for Columbia Records in 1954. After he wrote the charts for several sizeable Columbia hits during the mid-'50s, Conniff became a solo artist as well, applying his arranging techniques to instrumental easy listening...
