Powerful stories, awesome musicianship!

This newest album by the Jim O'Ferrell Band is a new, fresh innovation on what has been a predictable music genre. Much more than 'americana' music, this is 'modern americana rock' music. This project, titled '231 (two thirty one)' explodes with powerful storytelling and awesome musicianship. Every song tells part of the tale of the concept event, yet every song stands on its own. Gritty, heartfelt vocals, shredding old-school style lead guitar licks, and a thundering rhythm section forces the listener to close his or her eyes and become part of the opus. There are resonating lead bass lines, snapping precise snare percussions, brooding '70s style guitar runs, sweeping classical guitar sections... this album borrows from several genres and combines the styles to boldly create an assortment of original innovative rock music compositions. This is not cookie-cutter Top 40, it is not templated pop music. This album is powerful, wonderful, compelling, and absolutely original. Highly recommended and a 'must have'. To give '231 (two thirty one)' FIVE out of FIVE stars is to under rate it.
