The "Great" Mac

I grew up with the music of Mr. Wiseman, my father's favorite singer. It has been said many times this man had the best tenor voice of his time, I agree. Not one to use backup singers as a rule, his voice carried the song, backed by probably the most versatile, talented musicians available. Not sure if he had his own band that played on this album but they are exceptional. I, along with my oldest brother, Bruce, played "flat-top" guitar and learned many "runs" used by the acoustic musician on this record. Learned by picking up and placing down the stylus of the older turntables, we wore out more than one needle. One notable on this album is the fiddle player on Wabash Cannonball, just wish they would have let him finish the song with a full lead break. The song "Bringing Mary Home" still haunts me today as it did when I first heard it 40 years ago, as does "Mama, put my little shoes away". For those seeking the best of best, this album will not disappoint!
