AGP at their best

One of my favorite live albums I own, and I own a the likes of phish, grateful dead, umphrey's, moe, greyboy allstars, get the point. I first saw these guys at a phish show parking lot in 99' and i was instantly hooked. Meshing funk, jazz, a little soul and precise horn arrangements, AGP is just content in pleasing its audience with simplistic tight grooves and basic raw talent without being overly progressive. Wicked Live 2 grooves well and is little more "jammy", and great in its own right. But I think this live album captures these guys in their raw, funky origins. More of a 70's soul-funk progressive state. Front ot back, the grooves are tight! GET IT! Its just too bad the tragic death of their bass player, John Hall, led to the understandable demise of AGP. That makes these collections that more rare and special, and there aren't many good sounding recordings of these guys.

( O Y O )

these guys are like getting hit in the face w/ funk-filled-sax
