iTunes Editors’ Notes

Snoop Dogg needs no introduction—an international superstar beloved by kids, adults, the streets, and corporate America alike, he's one of the most instantly recognizable players in the world today. DaM-FunK, on the other hand, is more of an underground phenom, a Los Angeles–based producer/vocalist heavily influenced by '80s synth-funk pioneers like Roger & Zapp, Prince, Cameo, Slave, and the like. Signed to Stones Throw Records, he has released two critically acclaimed throwback-minded albums, Rhythm Trax Vol. 4 and Toeachizown. On 7 Days of Funk, he and "Snoopzilla" join forces for a short-but-sweet record that sounds like something straight out of 1982 (in a good way), overflowing with elastic bass lines, analog synth squiggles, handclaps a-plenty, and Vocoders galore. While Snoop's last incarnation as a reggae singer was somewhat hit-or-miss, he sounds more at home here, alternately singing and rapping mostly about the ladies, the chronic, and chillin'. This seems sure to satisfy any fan of Snoop, DaM, or Reagan-era funk.
