11 Songs, 37 Minutes

EDITORS’ NOTES

Lady A aren't interested in subverting the Nashville hit machine but rather setting the pace for it—hence their decision to enlist hitmaker Nathan Chapman (Taylor Swift) to produce 747. Vibrant, uptempo tunes like "Bartender" and "Down South" find the band cutting loose in distinct contrast to career-making ballads like "Need You Now.” This isn't to say the group don't know their way around a heartbreaking slow jam (see the smoldering "One Great Mystery”). But it's the scorching choruses and fiery harmonies of a song like "Freestyle" that distinguish their fifth studio effort.
