iTunes Review

Ike Reilly’s the kind of guy you watch from a distance. If his lyrics are to be taken literally, the man is a self-destructive mess and the kind of in-your-face sensationalist who views every potential friend as a potential opponent. Which makes for some exciting old-school rock n’ roll. Reilly may have started out a kid from small-town America — Libertyville, IL — but he’s grown into a big city con man who uses guitar riffs for muscle and his fast-talking mouth to weave in and out of trouble on a regular basis. With each album, Reilly never runs out of wasted nights to celebrate or enemies to condemn. The acoustic-based “Broken Parakeet Blues” shows a compassionate side to the American soldier, but Reilly’s mostly interested in sex and drugs as a daily regimen. “Valentine’s Day in Juarez,” the junkyard blues of “Let’s Get Friendly” and “The Nighttime is a Liar” are noir-capers where sin and shadows remain sacred. Reilly howls like a committed new Dylan, but sometimes it’s the simple primal locomotion of his backing group that makes the loudest and most pointed statement (“I Hear the Train”).

Ike's Best Yet!! A Simply Perfect Album.

I've been a fan of Ike and the boys ever since "Salesmen and Racists." I've had the pleasure to see them live, drink with them and own all their records. But with each new year, each new performance and each new album, the band gets better and better. Nothing more accurately defines the perfect evolution of the IRA than this album. I can't think of a more original rock band around. Do yourself a favor and buy this album. In fact, buy two.

LA Reid is Deaf (cause he sure ain't stupid)

Ike's latest is proof-positive that American music is alive and well. Unfortunately, to find it you have search far and wide and stay away from the vanilla offices of "fill in the blank" record labels in LA and NYC. Listen to this record and then compare it to the Billboard Top Ten, then ask yourself about the health of the music industry. The deaf keep getting richer. I'd rather live in a van down by the river than give up on Ike.

Another Solid Effort...

'Ike and the Boys have done it again and more- with their hard driven melodic Dylanesque rock. It's just as fresh as the days with their first effort "Salesmen and Racists." They deserve way more national airplay. Rolling Stone- help Ike out!!!
