Album Review

Since neither Chestnut Street Incident or The Kid Inside generated much attention, John Cougar's third album, A Biography, wasn't released in America. Ironically, it was his best effort yet, featuring a harder and genuinely rocking backbeat and, in the silly but catchy "I Need a Lover," his first good song. The rest of the album didn't even come close to matching those heights, yet the song indicated that Mellencamp had talent — he just wasn't sure how to access it.

His BEST Album!

In my opinion, this was John's best album. It's raw, but the instrumentals and his soaring voice of the time make this, in my mind, his best album. Buy it for sure!

Not Bad

I wouldn't say one of his best but it is closer to one of the best albums ever made "nothin matters and what if it did" nothing will ever compare to that album!!

folliculitis

Saw this concert in 1978 when he opened he for Nazareth in Germany. They ROCKED IT! This album was sold at the venue and I bought it. I think it is best work. I know many like the "mellencamp" stuff, and that made him famous, but this was when the band was hungry.Larry Crane KILLS on guitar!
