Editors’ Notes

Annie Lennox’s passionate collection of festive hymns plays down the secular trimmings and returns the holiday to its origins as a time for devotion and taking stock. With the exception of the serene “Universal Child,” all the songs are traditional carols and hymns of some vintage, and have been given appropriately folkish arrangements in which guitars are plucked reverently and recorders chirp. Meanwhile, a heavenly choir of Annie Lennoxes channels the righteous spirit of Christmas past.

Customer Reviews

Transcendent

In a word, transcendent. From 'I've got an angel' in '82 to 'There must be an angel' in '85, it all led to this moment. How can an artist so versed in the depths of despair sing such ecstacy? Only Annie Lennox.

Season's Greetings

Christmas has come early this year, and for the first time ever, I don't mind. Annie Lennox needs no undue praise from anyone. Her legacy is clear. "A Christmas Cornucopia" is a collection of familiar holiday tunes that is delightful and memorable. Annie's voice is still as rich and powerful as ever, and has aged just as gracefully as the woman who wields it. Simply put, it's divine. On top of all this, all the proceeds from 'Universal Child' go directly to the Annie Lennox Foundation which is part of the Sing Campaign that is raising money and awareness for the South African AIDS crisis. Annie Lennox is the last of a dying breed of true artists, and this album is a reflection of that.

Love Her

I love this inspirational woman. Her music is timeless. Love holiday music and this is my new favorite!
