Album Review

Dave Brubeck covers a host of favorite carols on this solo outing. His chime-like "Joy to the World" and striding "Winter Wonderland" are treasures. His festive opening version of "Jingle Bells" contrasts with the weary version signaling the end of an evening's festivities; anyone who has ever worked a holiday party will relate to it. His originals include the delightful "Run, Run, Run to Bethlehem" and the meditative "To Us Is Given." This is a Christmas CD worth repeated hearings.

Where is This Album?!

This album is a wonderful offering for the holidays. Five stars for the music. 1 star for iTunes deleting it. I went to purchase three or four gift copies for friends today and… nothing. Oh well, off to Amazon. A bit inconvenient, but I can actually download it there for less money, so....

Please bring the full album back!

I had 3 paid versions of the full album and all but one song is gone from my playlists! Same is true for all three music "services" we subscribe to in our home. I know have to feed it back from disc once again. The album is one of the best Christmas albums ever and it gets 5 stars, but Apple's playlist and iTunes purchase policy management systems across the Apple device Eco system gets a lump of coal this year.

Bring it Baaaaaaaackkkkk!

So disappointing to have only one song available.

In the 1950s and '60s, few American jazz artists were as influential, and fewer still were as popular, as Dave Brubeck. At a time when the cooler sounds of West Coast jazz began to dominate the public face of the music, Brubeck proved there was an audience for the style far beyond the confines of the in-crowd, and with his emphasis on unusual time signatures and adventurous tonalities, Brubeck showed that ambitious and challenging music could still be accessible. And as rock & roll began to dominate...
