Album Review

Recorded in Los Angeles, CA, and co-produced by rock en español expert Gustavo Santaolalla, the second album by Grammy-winning Juanes, highly anticipated following the release of its first single, "A Dios Le Pido," once again delivers his awarded fusion of urban, rock, and Latin American rhythms. A spiritual folk-rock song opens this 12-track record, followed by the romantic mid-tempo "Es por Ti" and the Latin pop ballads "Un Día Normal" and "La Unica." Colombian Juanes (born Juan Esteban Aristizabal) goes local with "Luna," a pop-oriented vallenato, the most popular traditional rhythm from his native country. After the orchestrated ballad "Dia Lejano," the album's rock en español side emerges with "Mala Gente" and "Fotografía," recorded along with Nelly Furtado. Un Día Normal ends with the Latin dance-pop of "La Noche."

One of the best

Juanes is just about the best there is out there in Latin music. Even if you don't understand Spanish, you will love listening to this. It's danceable, singable, repeatable - I can listen to it over and over and not tire of it. He has said he'll never sing in English, and I say more power to him. He's wildly popular all over the world for a reason. He's a great musician and in this CD he shines. Viva Colombia y su musica!

Juanes is simply amazing, and this album is jammed with excellent songs like "A dios le pido", " Es por ti", "Mala gente", and "la paga". Juanes continues to surprise me with his talent! Buy this CD and promote Juanes' stellar carreer!

"Un Dia Normal" is a great CD. My favorite song is 'A Dios Le Pido.' The album is must-have for any fan of Juanes. The only song that I think is very sad is 'La Historia de Juan.' Though it is a very sad song, I still like it and it is beautiful. I can relate to that song and that's why it makes me tear every time I hear it. But, the album just makes me want to get up and dance all day. Juanes is the most talented rock star I've seen in a very long time and he will continue to get much better with time. VIVA JUANES Y VIVA COLOMBIA!!!!

Whereas many of his Spanish-language contemporaries undertook English-language crossover campaigns at one point or another in their careers, Colombian singer/songwriter/guitarist Juanes won global appeal in his native language exclusively and became perhaps the biggest and most important popular Latin music artist in the world in the early 21st century. After his debut album, Fijate Bien (2000), won him a Grammy Award for Best New Artist, Juanes broke through to global success with his second album,...
