Beatles Classics

The Beatles and Enoch Light, that sounds like a mismatch. Light tried to be more "hip" by including a lot of Beatles songs on his easy-listening recordings. This album, originally with 12 cuts, 4 of the cuts were taken from other Light recordings, attempted to "Classicalize" the beatles songs into Classical orchestra numbers. Guess what? It works. This is a fabulous album with Classical overtones of some of the great Beatles songs. "Eleanor Rigby", "Hello Goodbye" are two standouts, as is a jazzy rendition of "A Hard Day's Night".
Recorded beautifully in the Enoch light close mike style, the performances by the cream of New York studio musicians sets this middle of the road, easy listening project into an extremely listenable album.
Great arrangements, solid playing. If nothing else an oddity for Beatles fans, but certainly a fun recording.
If you didn't thin the Beatles wrote "Clasical" music, you may want to listen to this one.
