iTunes Review

Released almost 40 years to the day that The Jam’s debut arrived, Weller’s latest solo excursion extends an absorbingly experimental stretch of records that began with 2008’s 22 Dreams. A Kind Revolution is the warmest album of that run—unflaggingly catchy and optimistic, yet exploratory enough to stretch from punchy cosmic rock (“Nova”) to brooding, Boy George-assisted funk (“One Tear”) and the ruminative psych-gospel of “The Cranes Are Back.” At the tail end of his 50s, the Modfather sounds as invigorated and inventive as ever.

He Does It Again!

Wonderful album. Paul never disappoints me. A jazzy blues mix with a Weller twist. His lyrics are the best. Loving it!

You can sink your teeth into this one...

Top to bottom, back to front - classic Weller. Mod rock with blistering guitar to funky vibes and mellow reflection - it's all here. Many highlights to this album, including 'Woo Se Mama', 'New York' and 'One Tear' (features Boy George sharing vocal duties). The deluxe version has remixes on disc 3. Some are stellar, some are ok - but let's get back to disc 1. For some, this may be a return to mid-90s Weller, for others, it's a continuation of Saturn's Pattern. Craddock, Crofts and Gordellier keep the sound of the band fresh and bouncy. The album is cohesive and is one of those that one must listen to all the way through - yes, there are a couple singles at least on here - but sit down, put on headphones, relax an enjoy.

Music to Take the Stress Away

The instrumentals are simply awesome, I hope they get played at length live !

As the leader of the Jam, Paul Weller fronted the most popular British band of the punk era, influencing legions of English rockers ranging from his mod revival contemporaries to the Smiths in the '80s and Oasis in the '90s. During the final days of the Jam, he developed a fascination with Motown and soul, which led him to form the sophisti-pop group the Style Council in 1983. As the Style Council's career progressed, Weller's interest in soul developed into an infatuation with jazz-pop and house...
