Best Album of 2007 So Far!

"A Lesson in Romantics" blew my mind the first time I listened to it. And it got even better when I listened to it again and again. The album consists of two singers: Derek (lead vocals), and Jason (vocals/guitar). Derek sings more but Jason has a ton of parts, including most of track 12. Derek's voice is more like Brendan from Panic! at the Disco and has a lil bit lower voice than Jason. Jason a lil bit higher voice and sings the chorus in track 12. Let's begin the review. "Jamie All Over" begins the album with beautiful lyrics and great muscianship. "Jamie All Over" is my favorite song off this ENTIRE record, seriously. It reminds me of my girl =]. "Black Cat" starts off slowly and gets faster and faster. The chorus is like a tongue twister that says "You're like a black cat / with a black backpack / formed by firework / and you're gonna burn the city down right now". I think that should be their first single from this album. It's single worthy. "When I Get Home, You're So Dead" is a re-recorded version from the same song off their first EP. The first version is more elctronicish and this one is more rockish. They're both good though. "Jersey" sounds like a slower Fall Out Boy song with very nicely mixed vocals in the chorus. The guitar in the verse sounds like some guitar AFI would do. "If You Wanted A Song..." is another really good one. I like it a lot, the lyrics are good and the music is great. Vocals are top notch as well. "Miserable at Best" is nothing but piano and Derek and Jason singing and taking turns doing it. The first line 'Katie don't cry' is about Jason's wife who's name is Katie. The words are fantastic and I actually like the song a lot. "Walk on Water or Drown" and "Ocean and Atlantic" are similar, they're both fast paced. "Walk on Water" has a better chorus but "Ocean and Atlantic" has a wayyy better verse. They're both good. "I'd Hate To Be You..." is another amazing one with amazing guitar. The chorus is AMAZING, it's a wonderful ballad. "Take This to Heart" has AMAZING vocals sung by Derek. The notes are perfectly on key and held long enough to keep you entertained. "Champagne's for Celebrating" is my least favorite, but it's still amazing. Has good energy and great lyrics. "You Be The Anchor..." is the 2nd slowest song. Most of the lyrics, including the last line of the album, are sung by Jason. This song has AMAZING lyrics and greatly filled guitar where you need it. DEFINITLEY DOWNLOAD (no order): 1. Jamie All Over 2. Black Cat 3. When I Get Home, You're So Dead 4. If You Wanted A Song... 5. I'd Hate To Be You When... Is it too early to say "Perfect?"

So here's the story. They released an EP that was overly amazing. The vocals are out of this world and the lyrics are screaming with emotion. Then a year later, this CD was born. This CD is the EP and Heaven combined. The vocals are spectacular, the guitar parts are stunning, and the lyrics are cutting edge. This band screams "I'm gonna be huge someday, suckah." Buy it. Love it. It'll be true love the second you blast it through your speakers. This is my all time favorite band. Help em out.

Great album, Mayday Parade delivers.

1. Jamie All Over - Great song over all. Good intro. Very Catchy. Great vocals and range. 9/10 2. Black Cat - Not my favorite. Catchy chorus, but besides the chorus this song doesn't work for me. 7/10 3. When I Get Home You're So Dead - Good remake, but I liked the old one better. Good intro. Lyrics are good. 8.5/10 4. Jersey - Once again, great intro. Favorite song when i first listened to the album. The chorus is great along with the rest of the song. 9/10 5. If You Wanted A Song Written About You All You Had To Do Was Ask - Great song. Lyrics are great and they all follow well with the song, no random stuff thrown in. Great Chorus and very catchy. 10/10 6. Miserable at Best - Slowest song on the album. Phenomanal vocals and lyrics. Good intro. Good love song. 9.5/10 7. Walk On Water Or Drown - Good song, but there isn't anything that really sticks out to me. Just a good song with a good rhythm. 8/10 8. Ocean and Atlantic - Great intro. Great chorus. Lyrics are good. All around great song. 9/10 9. I'd Hate To Be You When People Find Out What This Song Is About - Great song. Catchy guitar rift following intro. Amazing vocals and switching between the two in singing. Chorus is amazing. 10/10 10. Take This To Heart - Good song. Guitar rift in begining is good. Some very good lines. Great Chorus, but the other verses are average. But an all around good song. 8.5/10 11. Champagne's For Celebrating (I'll Have A Martini) - Good entering guitar and vocals. Lyrics all follow well and tell a good story. Chorus is good and fits well with the other verses. Great Song. 9/10 12. You Be The Anchor That Keeps My Feet To The Ground, I'll Be The Wings That Keep Your Heart In The Clouds - Amazing Song. Amazing Vocals. Amazing lyrics. Amazing guitar that contrasts well with the low vocals. One of the best songs on the album. 10/10 Overall, this is one of the best albums I've heard in a long time. Mayday Parade is an amazing band, and if they got a little publicity they'd be one of the most popular bands in the world. They already are one of the best. I can't wait for the next album, A Lesson in Romantics will be tough to top. Great band, Great album.
