This is one of the best albums of the past 30 Years

I first started listening to AWB in 1976 while in Jr. High and I haven't stop yet. This is on my IPod and I listen to at least one of the songs daily. Lead singer Hamish Stuart is one of R&B's/Pop's greatest voices and this album still holds up today. While I like Justin Timberlake and Robin Thicke, Hamish/AWB, along with Hall and Oates and Michael McDonald truly epitomize "Blue Eyed" and any other type of soul. Listen closely to Queen of My Soul and A Love of Your Own. I don't think many songs since can match the feeling and sensuality.

A classic, must have.

For too many people AWB's catalog begins and ends with Pick Up the Pieces, and that's a shame. Soul Searching is the pinnacle of the band's creative peak and displays their unparalleled musicianship, and is a must have for fans of music. This album is categorized as "rock," which couldn't be more off base. And while there is no way to categorize this album - it's funk, jazz, dance, pop - any music fan will appreciate what AWB laid down on vinyl over 30 years ago. Buy it!

Their self-effacing name to the contrary, Average White Band was anything but -- one of the few white groups to cross the color line and achieve success and credibility playing funk, with their tight, fiery sound also belying their Scottish heritage, evoking American R&B hotbeds like Detroit, Memphis, and Philadelphia instead. Singer/bassist Alan Gorrie, guitarists Hamish Stuart and Onnie McIntyre, tenor saxophonist Malcolm Duncan, keyboardist/saxophonist Roger Ball, and drummer Robbie McIntosh comprised...
