iTunes Review

Dispensing with the notion that dream-pop needs whisper-sung vocals, Sucré frontwoman Stacy King lets her gossamer inflections soar. Sucré features King, her husband/bandmate Darren King (from MuteMath), and producer/multi-instrumentalist Jeremy Larson. The group's 2012 debut album, A Minor Bird, confidently dabbles in various subgenres woven into a dream-pop foundation. The orchestral opener, “Hiding Out,” plays with overwhelmingly large string arrangements, as Stacy croons like a Björk/Joanna Newsom hybrid over plucked harp notes and a panoramic symphony. Those swelling string and wood tones blend with subtle electro flourishes and programmed beats on the outstanding “When We Were Young,” a song overflowing with melodies that are equally lulling and memorable. Stacy’s lyrics endearingly touch on bittersweet nostalgia for childhood adventure tales, where fairy-princess galas and tea parties with a sprawling cast of imaginary friends were everyday occurrences. “Chemical Reaction” ebbs and flows with an undercurrent of funk rhythms, enveloped in the trio’s otherworldly soundscapes.

A MAJOR Bird if you know what I mean

If you like Eisley, obv you will like Sucre, but remember: Sucre is on a TOTALLY DIFFERENT LEVEL.

The arrangements are earthy and beautiful. Listening to this album feels like floating on a cloud of violins.

Okay none of this makes sense but seriously, just buy it, it is just the best, I don't care what music you like, this is the best you will like it.

First Review!!!!!! Great Album!

I've been a fan of Stacy King of the band Eisley for many years now. I'm so happy to see her have the chance to put out a project like this. This album is wonderful. Stacy's voice is so unique and beautiful. The sound arrangements are very refreshing. Some of the songs aren't as catchy as others. Some people may find it hard to enjoy select songs. I personally like some of the weirder melodies. The percussion adds so much to these melodic, richness. More specifically in "Troubled Waters" "Chemical Reactions" "Say Something" and "Stampede". I like something I can nod my head and move to. And those songs are great for that. "Light up" and "Persuasion" are soft and graceful. Great songs to listen to while you're being creative. I am satisfied with this long-awaited debut album. Get some big headphones, sit back, and enjoy Sucre.

Top 10 of 2012

This album is easily in my Top 10 of 2012. Amazing. Can't wait to catch these shows they're doing this month.
