Customer Reviews

I have listened to this album more than any other human.

I run Typhoon's record label - Tender Loving Empire. We have a store here in Portland, Oregon. A New Kind of House has played on the store's stereo an average of 2 times per day for the last year and a half. I'm nearing what I estimate to be about 1000 listens - which I'm confident is a record. My point is its still fresh and amazing even after all those listens. Every time "The Honest Truth" comes on a part of me still gets goosebumps during the epic ending where everyone sings. When its raining (which is almost always here in PDX) "Summer Home" makes me feel hopeful for a time when the sun will come out. Claws Pt. 1 always makes me think, "it'd be so great if they played this song live back-to-back with Claws Pt. 2 from Hunger & Thirst..." And then they TOTALLY DID the other night during the encore at Aladdin Theater. The end of Kitchen Tile always makes me think of my mom for some reason and Firewood's melancholy piano makes me remember growing up in rural Colorado, hauling wood with my brother in the blowing snow. Anyway, In my humble opinion, Typhoon is one of the best bands working today and I'm proud to put my time, money and reputation behind them. And if anyone thinks they have listened to the album more than me, hit me up and we'll arm wrestle!

Songwriting at it

Ever since i first heard "the honest truth" I have been an honest to goodness fan of everything they write. Theres so much on top of so little and you need to listen to understand. This is campfire warm your heart music. This band embodies what every band should strive to be. Honest to themselves. Thanks Typhoon. I always am hoping to see you in Florida one day soon.
