Album Review

This collection of Montand's Parisian songs, recorded during Montand's decade-long peak — from the late '40s to the late '50s — is an excellent compilation of his jazzier, jauntier sides including "Planter Cafe," "Grands Boulevards" and "C'est Si Bon."

cool beans

I was skeptical before buying this - its French, and there were no ratings/reviews on it. But to be completely honest, it has become a favorite in my musical collection, even though my French is limited. It's for doing pretty much anything that, by its nature, calls for relaxing and very cool music - morning coffee/tea/breakfast, saturday night studying, chilling at the library, late night activities, etc. It really feels like you're in Paris (and hence the title of the album).

Great classic French songs...

Yves Montand is amazing...I could listen to him sing all day. This album is relaxing, fun a very classic French. As for some of the other reviews that we respect older artists but move on, I couldn't disagree more. I'm 18, so clearly this isn't my generation's music, but I love it nonetheless.

a delight

Yves Montand can be a little cheesy at times, but the big brass band backing him up along with cheeky lyrics and classic love songs makes this album one big smile throughout.
