Album Review

Their first major-label release (for RCA) sees California rockers Lit mellow the grunge-lite-punk-metal assault of their first two albums in favor of airbrushed, radio-friendly power pop. The result is an album that is sonically more focused, with its buzzing guitars and singsong vocals. Lyrically, the Popoff brothers have a way with words, and they lyrics are full of ironic angst and clever self-deprecation. The playing is tight and crisp. A couple of songs really stand out: "Miserable" brings vocalist Jay Popoff's Elvis Costello impression to the fore and "Quicksand" sparkles.

Pretty Sweet

"A Place In the Sun" is a pretty sweet album. Lit is an awesome punk rock band with a hint of ska thrown in from time to time. I enjoyed this piece of music. Peace out home-slices.

Not bad

My Own Worst Enemy is priced at $1.29 because of higher quality, and because it's a popular song. They get all the in-demand songs (this wouldn't be marked up if it wasn't for Rock Band), and increase the quality. Personally, I think it all sounds the same. I WOULD buy that song or this album, but I WOULDN'T pay the extra money to upgrade it if you already have it. No difference. Just a tip. I have always known this song, but when I heard it on Rock Band, it reminded me of it and told me the name. I've always heard it on the radio but never actually knew the name. I only know My Own Worst Enemy and Miserable, but just from the looks of those I can tell that this album is great. My Own Worst Enemy is great, one of my favorite songs. Lit needs to make some new stuff though. Otherwise, great.

Why is My own worst enemy...

so expensive? its 1.29 compared to .99 for the rest WHY????

A major player throughout the post-grunge boom of the late '90s, Lit featured the combined talents of frontman A. The group formed in 1990 in Orange County, California, where it initially performed metal-influenced music under the name Razzle. After changing their name, Lit began embracing a spunky brand of punk-pop that helped attract a local following in California. The group sold out local venues...
