Great new album!

I love the bi-lingual When You Say Nothing At All. He performed it on Nashville Star and I only wish that he had released it before my wedding. THAT is why Spanish is called the language of love!! And, I love it anytime I can get 14 great songs on one album. Quality and quantity!

Another Solid Effort

This album is another strong release for John Arthur Martinez. It and he remains true to his Texas country roots. If you don't like traditional country then this is probably not the release you will want to hear. Martinez is able to put together some tunes that will appeal to the present radio selection played on most country stations but his strength still lies in his ability to play his music his way. A superb second album!

john Arthur remains true to his south Texas Roots

john Arthur remains true to himself, his roots, and his fans in this, his 3rd release since Nashville Star. Stand out tunes include the toe tapping, South Texas flavored "Rio Grande Rodeo Night", and "A Real Good Year For Beer"-in which jAm imparts investment and love advice in the same song. Dancers will love the two stepping and swing tunes, "It Takes a Part of My Heart Away", "Cherry Springs Swing", and "Front Porch Swing". I particularly enjoyed the jazzy retro-western "All Hat and No Cattle", featuring stand out swing fiddle and jAm's deft phrasing and delivery. There are two bilingual songs "When You Say Nothing At All" and "You Could've Heard a Teardrop", sure to please the ladies, while the guys will enjoy the rocking "Boys With Guitars". And speaking of guitars....I have to mention the beautiful use of Spanish guitar in many of the tracks. The Spanish guitar weaves its way through the album, and, like strong quilting thread, lovingly holds together a diverse grouping of songs. Lastly, "The Little Engineer" tells the tale of a child, taken from this life too soon. Once again, a solid album from a Texas singer/songwriter who hasn't "sold out" to the Nashville Pop sound.

Born: Austin, TX

Genre: Country

Years Active: '90s, '00s

His parents were divorced by the time he was four and even though his stepfather primarily raised him, John Arthur Martinez saw his birth father -- a professional musician -- enough to know that being a performer was a tough life. The Austin native had the urge to perform the Texas-style of country he loved since grade school, and sneaking into an Asleep at the Wheel/Commander Cody show while he was still underage only made it worse. He was performing weekly in local clubs by the time he graduated...
