Album Review

Picture White Zombie without all the horror shtick and a dash more melody, and you wouldn't be that far off from Anarchy Club. After all, both bands contain crunchy guitar riffs, growly vocals, memorable choruses, and an unmistakable electronic sheen. On this Boston-based duo's 2007 release, A Single Drop of Red, Anarchy Club offers five new electro rock ditties, as well as six remixes of favorites (supposedly selected by their fans) from their debut release, The Way and Its Power. The duo sticks closely to the aforementioned Zombie-esque style on the first two tracks ("Graveyard Stickshift" and "Collide"), before showing that they also have a thing for Stone Temple Pilots ("Blood Doll") and Nine Inch Nails-style music (the title track). And as with most remixes, there's nothing all that groundbreaking with these makeovers, but hardcore fans may get a thrill or two. With the metallic dance genre having hit a bit of a bump in the road circa the time of the release of this set (especially when compared to the genre's heady days of a decade earlier), Anarchy Club appear to be single-handedly attempting to breath life back into this once thriving style.

Sweet, But The First Was Better.

This Alum is Good, But Don't Make More Remixes, The First Ones Were Amazing. I Really Liked The First Album Better, But Blood Doll, The Gentleman, And Graveyard Stickshift Were Very Nice on this Album. I'll Be Waiting On Their New Album In the Fall, Hope It's More Like The First.

Other than three days grace... this is my fav band

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '00s

The self-contained (all steps of recording and releasing were done "in-house," as it were) Anarchy Club was the result of friends Adam von Buhler (formerly of the band Splashdown) and Keith Artez Smith (of the band C60) joining forces in 2004 to create music which encompassed all of their shared passions. Bringing together elements of video games, metal, anime, and hip-hop, Anarchy Club released their first album, The Way and Its Power in 2005. They then went on to have two tracks ("Behind the Mask"...
