15 Songs, 46 Minutes

EDITORS’ NOTES

The dynamic, award-winning composer Jóhann Jóhansson takes up the tragic Greek tale of Orpheus in his first album for Deutsche Grammophon. Orphée features a kaleidoscopic array of instrumentations, from string quartet to electronics and choir, drawing from the Icelandic composer’s minimal, serene style to produce a focused, postmodern foray into atmosphere and myth.

Another Amazing album ( follow up 2018)

Excellent work, uses elements and styles from previous works with incorporated elements of new to create a fresh amazing haunting and powerful body of work.

Follow up ( March 2018)

I am not sure if anyone will ever read this and am sure it is a safe place for me to express my feeling upon hearing of Johann’s passing. I was shocked and sadden by the loss of a wonderful man and artist.

I have been a fan of his work for many years and was very proud to see his progression in his career. Of all his works, all wonderful, this album has 2 tracks that for me have the power [even more so now] to punch me in the soul and take this unemotional man; cry and feel from the beauty of the music and arrangement . [“Goodnight, Day” and “A sparrow upon our shoulder”.].

Thank you, Mr Johannsonn.

RIP my friend.

RIP Jóhann — I recommend his entire catalogue

I certainly wish he had more time on Earth to share his amazing gifts of music-making & talent with fans while making new ones along the way. The soundtracks are perfection and the Artist LPs are astounding. Gone too soon, but he has left an eternal and considerable imprint on those who both enjoyed & learned from his music.

Beyond exceptional

Buy this album and go on a long walk. This is the best work to come out of the minimalist movement thus far--a real gem. I strongly recommend the album, it's medicine for the mind and being
